ANGELA PINGITORE May 28, 1928 - April 28, 2009 Peacefully with her family at her side, on April 28, 2009, Angela Pingitore passed away at the Grace Hospice at the age of 80 years. Angela was born May 28, 1928 in Amato, Italy where she lived and fell in love with her husband Pietro. My father left for Canada in 1954 leaving my mother behind until 1957 at which time she immigrated to Canada bringing with her, her two young boys. She reunited with her husband Pietro to start a new life in a country that had promise and bountiful opportunities. Angela worked for many years as a seamstress in the fur industry until such a time that she retired with Pietro so that they could both enjoy the fruits of their labour. Angela was the typical Italian mom who placed her family first before anything else. Like most Italian mothers she was happiest when family and friends were over so that she could spend time in her kitchen preparing the traditional meals that put smiles on everyone's faces. I remember many years ago when a friend of mine from St. Ignatius School said to me, every time I come over to your house your mother is always in the kitchen. That was my mother, that was what pleased her the most, that was what she loved to do. Her husband Pietro predeceased Angela; she will be sadly missed but remembered by her son Saverio Pingitore and Carmen Regalado, son Carmine and grandsons Aubrey and Alex Pingitore, son Renato and granddaughter Stephanie and grandson Lucas Pingitore. Besides her immediate family Angela leaves behind brothers Frank Scarpino and his wife Lucia, Giuliano Scarpino and wife Loretta, sister Maria Racano and husband Tommaso. As well Angela leaves behind many nephews and nieces. Prayers will be held Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 501 River Ave. Mass of the Resurrection will follow on Monday, May 4th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Interment to follow in Waverley Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley. Active pallbearers are Frank Bruni, Agostino Torchia, Dr. Carmine Scarpino, Carmine Scarpino, Cosmo Racano and Aubrey Pingitore. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Angela's name to either the Grace Hospice or Cancer Care Manitoba. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the special people at the Grace Hospice and to its many wonderful volunteers. As well many thanks to the fourth floor North Nursing Station at the Victoria Hospital.
