ELSIE FERGUSON Elsie passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at age 86. Elsie is survived by her loving brother Arthur (Marion); niece Donna of Kelowna; nephews, David (Donna), Gordon (Heather) and their families of Winnipeg. Elsie was buried in Kelowna, BC, on Monday, May 11, among family and new Kelowna friends. Elsie will be remembered by her friends in Winnipeg for her many years of service at the YWCA and YMCA of Winnipeg, Children's Home of Winnipeg (New Directions) and as Director of the Rupert's Land Foundations' Manitoba Human Relations programs at the Island . She led personal growth groups spanning decades in the Winnipeg, Lake of the Woods and Brandon areas. Elsie volunteered extensively with the United Way, Age and Opportunity, Anglican Church's Rupert's Land Seniors Day-Out Program and various programs of St. James/Hacienda Ministries. In order to honour Elsie's remarkable life, a gathering will take place in Winnipeg on Saturday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 3 St. Vital Road near St. Mary's Road. The memorial will begin with a prayer service and be followed by a coffee and dainties reception. Cards will be sent to Elsie's family. Inquiries can be directed to the Rev.
