Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES NICOL March 5, 1921 - May 30, 2009 It is with sadness the family announces the passing of William Nicol on May 30, 2009 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife Eleanor, daughters Marilyn (Graham) and Barbara (Robert), son Robert (Diane) and two grandchildren Tahara and Katrina. Bill was born and raised in Weston. He was active in sports, playing soccer for United Weston and Army Navy Air Force as well as playing hockey for Weston C.P.A.C. He had been chosen to play for the Trail Smoke Eaters, 1939 World Champions, but instead decided to join the Navy. He was sent to England where he was posted to the H.M.S. Belfast, the first ship that fired on France on D-Day. After the War he returned to work at the C.P.R. Weston backshops. In 1945 he married Eleanor Harris and had three children. He retired from the C.P.R. after working for 42 years. William has been a member of the Legion for over 50 years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment to follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
