Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHELLE JOAN DUMAS (GYORFFY) (nee SABOURIN) 1951-2009 Peacefully, on May 30th, at St. Boniface Hospital, Michelle passed away with her loving husband Yvon at her side. She was born on December 13, 1951, fourth in a family of eight to Paul and Frances Sabourin. She is survived by her mother Frances; husband Yvon, her son Christopher (Lynne); grandchildren Brigitte and Colin, sisters Marie Anderson, (Lynwood), Catherine Matlock (Bob), Angie, brothers Denis (Barb), Maurice (Bev) and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Paul-Emile and twin brothers Roger and Paul Jr. Michelle graduated from Red River Community College in 1972 as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and graduated from Misericordia General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1978. She began working at St. Boniface General Hospital in 1980 and remained there until her retirement in 2008. The love of her work was in the Emergency Department, where she worked for many years. There, she made many lifelong friends and was loved by so many for her dedication to her work and her commitment to her co-workers. Later in her career she also worked as a flight nurse bringing her care and compassion to those in need in northern communities, offering further proof that angels do fly. It was during this time that she met her loving husband, Yvon. Michelle loved her time at the Bird Lake family cottage, where she spent her time fishing, picking blueberries, cross-stitching, baking and sharing her time with family and friends. She was an avid gardener and was able to can just about anything and make it taste great! Michelle was loved by so many for her giving and loving free spirit. Her special long-time friends are Tanis Wallace, Bev Bradford, Mel Damm, and the Yo's. Michelle was especially fond of spending time with her two grandchildren, Brigitte and Colin and her two special nephews, Mason and Morgan. Her presence will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her big loving hugs and warm welcoming smile. The family wishes to thank the wonderful, caring staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who tended to her every need. A celebration of Michelle's life will be held at the Crescentwood Community Centre, located at 1170 Corydon Ave., on Friday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m, A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michelle's name to the Manitoba Chapter of ride for Dad Foundation (motorcycleridefordad.org), a cause that Michelle was passionate about.
