AGNES GENEVA (NEVA) KING (nee BURNS) Peacefully, on June 17, 2009, Agnes Geneva (Neva) King (nee Burns), passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 94 years, with her family by her side. Mom was born in Stonewall, Manitoba on February 1, 1915, to William Washington and Agnes Rose Burns. While she was the only child to William and Rose, she was the youngest of several brothers and sisters on her father's side. She married Edward (Ed) King on June 10, 1944, who predeceased her on March 5, 1979. Her final resting place will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, next to her husband. She was blessed with a stepson, Don (Shirl), and two children Douglas (Sharon) and June Rose (Clem). She is survived by her three children, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren from the three families; as well as her extended family. Neva was admitted to Riverview Health Centre in December l995, where she remained until her demise. She was one of the remaining few who left the old hospital complex, King Edward Hospital, and moved to the newer quarters in 1997. She particularly enjoyed her latter years at Riverview, with caring staff on CD 2, the volunteers she befriended, and the many friends she made there during her stay. She was particularly pleased when she was joined at Riverview with an old friend and bridesmaid at her wedding to Edward, Vi Hitchcock, earlier this year. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with viewing one half hour prior to the service. Her family is indebted to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, particularly on CD 2, as well as the hospital care she received at St. Boniface Hospital following her transfer the previous day.
