INGRID KAROLINE MINA MCMILLAN September 21, 1953 - June 24, 2009 Ingrid McMillan, adored aunt of Bailey and treasured sister of Kathleen, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at St. Boniface Hospital following a short but acute illness. Ingrid was predeceased by her parents, William and Heidi McMillan. Ingrid is mourned by her loving family; sister Kathleen, brother Leonard (Marlene), nieces Bailey and Lisa, and her special uncle Leonard T. McMillan. Ingrid's career began in 1983 as an ICU nurse and over her career she had the privilege of working with many dedicated health care professionals at all of the Winnipeg hospitals. She will be remembered for her caring and dedication to her patients and their families. Ingrid loved working as an ICU nurse and will be sorely missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Ingrid's passion was travelling and together with her friends and family she visited extensively in the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico and the Caribbean. Of particular importance was the month long celebration of her 50th birthday by travelling to four of the Hawaiian islands with Kathleen and Bailey. An avid volunteer, Ingrid devoted time to political campaigns, children's well-being and spent her leisure time pursuing a variety of arts and crafts. Her love of cooking and hosting Ladies Get Togethers will always be remembered. Sharing a home with Kathleen and Bailey and most recently with uncle Leonard, Ingrid was the centre of the household. The resident nurse, taxi driver and chef, Ingrid lovingly cared for each of us but always held a special place in her heart for her precious Bailey. Ingrid will be missed by her close circle of friends and especially by Kathleen, her sister and best friend. A special thank you to the Ducharme Family: Linda, Danielle (Jeff), Natalie (Scott) for being the Adopted sister and aunt to Kathleen and Bailey. Their support and love has eased this most difficult time. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at the Victoria Hospital and Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service for the kindness, care and respect shown to Ingrid. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ingrid's life will be held at Glen Lawn, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Tuesday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Private interment will follow at a later date.
