SONIA HAYDEN Peacefully, after a long and courageous struggle with failing health, Sonia passed away in Nanaimo, BC on July 26, 2009. Sonia was born in Killarney, MB on December 18, 1940 and also lived in Holmfield, Cartwright, Miami and Winnipeg before moving to BC with her mother in 1989. She was predeceased by her parents Fern (1997) and Elmer (2003) and brother Bill (1974). She is survived by her brothers Bob (Lorraine) and Don (Dorothy), sister-in-law Margaret and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Sonia's passion to nurture others was fulfilled through the lives of her nieces and nephews who were graced by the unconditional love she so freely extended to them. Sonia always had time to listen; to care; to play. Small things were important to her. Their lives were a constant source of joy and enrichment to her. Her many friends, particularly those with special needs, also benefitted greatly from her spirit of compassion. An excellent musician, seamstress and caregiver, she devoted her life to serving the needs of others. She was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her. At peace, at last, she will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She would be pleased to have her life viewed as a model for others to follow. Interment has taken place in Parksville, BC. Sonia would be grateful for a donation made on her behalf to a Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
