Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE MACAULEY Dad passed away gently at noon, August 31, 2009 at Riverview Hospital. He had intended to reach his 91st birthday, to stare death in the face and meet it head on, and live an extraordinary life he was successful in all three. He is predeceased by his sister Betty, brother Robert and son-in-law Ernie. Leaving to mourn his loss his loving wife and best friend of 68 years, Florence, daughter Jo-Ann (Bob Kinash); grandchildren Leigh Driedger, Brent Driedger (Nathalie Cinq-Mars) and great-grandson, Aiden. Dad was born in Winnipeg and lived all of his life in Elmwood/East Kildonan. He joined the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War and has been a member of Elmwood Legion #9 for over 60 years. Dad married mom in 1941. He had several jobs before the war beginning his career with Canada Post as a Railway Mail Clerk. He retired from the position of Manager, Customer Service Main Branch in 1981. He and mom enjoyed 28 years of retirement together travelling and going to their winter home in Texas. He loved watching baseball, football and hockey. One of his favourite things was to spend time at the cottage in Lac Du Bonnet with his family. His passion was music and he sang with the sweetest voice. It never took much to make him happy. He loved the simple things in life. There is a huge hole in all of our hearts. We will truly miss you. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Palliative Care Ward at Riverview, with special thanks to Lorilei and Caroline.
