PEGGY KROEZE Peacefully on September 2, 2009, our family Matriarch, mother to Gillian Miller, Pamela Gaskell (Ed), Christine Kroeze, and Glenn Kroeze (Candice) has gone to be with her beloved Kars. A woman of determination, independence, humour and eagerness for knowledge, Mum loved the outdoors and embraced the Canadian prairies as her home, arriving from England as a war bride in 1946. Camping, canoeing, winter picnics, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, astronomy, and classical music all were part of Mum's enthusiasm for life. Whether in her house on Carter Avenue or later in her apartment in Charleswood, Mum's home was a gathering place for family, a pit-stop after hockey games, a home for grandchildren coming into the city to go to school and the place to be served the best pastry in the world. Mum is lovingly remembered by a wonderful crowd of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, dear and special family and friends in Canada, in England and the Netherlands. The family wishes to thank Grace Hospital Oncology staff, Home Care, Palliative Care, and St. Boniface Palliative Care and Mum's loving church family at St. Mary's Anglican Church for all the care and kindness that Mum appreciated so much. And grandson Jim speaks for the whole family when he says Gramma, I love your plum and apple pie! . Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd., with reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, 269 Main Street, Suite 115, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 1B2 or to a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
