EDMOND GRANDMONT March 8, 1934 September 4, 2009 Suddenly on September 4, 2009, Ed passed away due to complications from surgery at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by Rose-Marie his wife of 49 years, two sons, Marc (Sherri), Dan (Heather), and his two grandchildren Emma and Samuel. Ed also left his two brothers Larry (Simone), Louis (Helen) and numerous nieces and nephews that are deeply saddened by the loss. Ed was born and raised in St. Norbert. He was married to Rose-Marie (Durand) on September 3, 1960. He started his career at Walsh Graham repairing cars and eventually opened his own business on Broadway and Main. He moved his business to St. Vital and spent the next 35 years serving that community, where he fostered many close relationships with his employees and customers. Wherever Ed went, whether locally or abroad, he always met someone he knew and took a genuine interest in those around him. Ed had a fierce love and appreciation of music and was always whistling or humming a tune. When he was young he could be counted on to entertain at parties with his accordion and baritone voice. Upon retiring, he loved spending time in his woodworking shop or going to friend's homes to help with any and all building projects. Ed crafted a beautiful cradle for his granddaughter, which has been used by many family members and close friends for their children. Two days after Ed passed away, his niece gave birth to a baby girl who will continue the tradition. We know this would have made him very happy. Our family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac Care / Intensive Care Units who provided wonderfully companionate care during this difficult time. We would especially like to thank Dr. Moon and the surgical staff for their extraordinary efforts. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., with a reception to follow at the Eagles Club at 3459 Pembina Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Boniface Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
