ISOBEL FINDLAY (MALCOLMSON)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISOBEL FINDLAY (nee MALCOLMSON) Peacefully, on October 16, 2009, at the age of 96, Isobel Findlay passed away at the Country Meadows Personal Care Home in Neepawa, Manitoba. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Bob, Keith (Connie), Jim (Pat); daughter Rosemary (Rick); daughters-in-law, Phyllis and Lorna; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Allan Findlay in 2005; her brother Jack Malcolmson and sister-in-law Rosina. Isobel was born in Carman, Manitoba, to Jean and Robert Malcolmson on October 5, 1913. She attended elementary school in Carman and entered Wesley College (U. of W.) for grade 12. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in 1934 and went on to Teacher's College at the U. of M. She taught school at Brunkild and Miami before enlisting in the women's division of the RCAF. She worked as an equipment clerk and then became an aircraft identification instructor. She was posted in Macdonald, MB then overseas (Newfoundland). In 1945 she married Allan and lived in Winnipeg until 1956, when they moved their family to Warren. Isobel then taught at Argyle and Woodlands retiring in 1972. She was a Life Member of the Woodlands Legion Auxiliary. Allan and Isobel moved back to Winnipeg in 1983. They enjoyed a long, happy retirement spending many winters in the south. Family was very important to Mom and she always looked forward to her visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to bake, knit and do needlepoint pictures for her family. She continued reading and doing crossword puzzles well into her nineties. Isobel moved to the care home in Neepawa in 2006 because of her health. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Legion in Woodlands. Her family would like to thank the staff at Country Meadows in Neepawa for their exceptional care and compassion.
