Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL VERNON GRIMSEY (nee HARRIS) Born 27 March 1917 in Winnipeg, passed away on Saturday 31 October 2009 in her 93rd year, at St Patrick's Rest Home, Auckland, New Zealand. Loved wife of the late Maurice, and loved mother and mother-in-law of Gordon, Amanda, Don, Jill, and Maurine. Dearly loved and missed by her seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In accordance with Hazel's wish, a private family service was held at the All Souls Chapel, Auckland. Hazel grew up in Norwood and attended Taché High School, and later Wesley College of the University of Manitoba, graduating with a BA. After further study at the University of Toronto Library School, she graduated with a BLib Sci. During the war years she served in the Women's Division of the RCAF as a Radio Communications Officer in Newfoundland. During the 1950's she served as a librarian in the Norwood Public library and as a member of the Manitoba Library Association. She also worked at the University of Manitoba library, and as a teacher/librarian at Glenlawn Collegiate, St Vital. She was also a founding member of the Norwood United Church. In 1962 at the age of 45, she and her family left Norwood for New Zealand, where she resided until her passing. Condolences to 25 Mersey Place, Auckland 0600, New Zealand or ggrimsey@aut.ac.nz
