ELAINE KRAVETSKY (nee WISE) We are saddened by the passing of Elaine Kravetsky on January 29, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Elaine's passing leaves a void in the lives of her close family and friends who can attest that they had the privilege of knowing her. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Helen and Sam Wise and her husband Wilfred Kravetsky. Elaine is survived by her sister Gloria Hayman (Julius). Elaine was born and raised in Toronto where she met her husband Wilfred. After the wedding, Elaine moved with Wilfred to his hometown, Winnipeg and was welcomed by the Kravetsky family. Elaine took an active role in family and community events. She enjoyed being a volunteer with many charitable and religious organizations including the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Victoria Order of Nurses, Sharon Home, and Herzlia-Adas Synagogue. Elaine and Wilfred were committed members of the Jewish community and founding members of the Herzlia-Adas Synagogue. Elaine loved reading and the exposure to new thoughts and places that reading offers. She had a passion for art and theater. Elaine continued her education obtaining a degree from the University of Manitoba where she became involved in theater. Elaine was unpretentious and lived by the example that it is best to see the good in people and not their imperfections as we are all human and no one is perfect. She had the gift of deep and lasting friendships, always embracing new friends. She was articulate and always enjoyed a good conversation. She never hesitated to share her passion and advice and will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends. We are thankful for the good care and compassion shown by the doctors, nurses and staff at Riverview Health Center. Funeral services were held January 31, 2010 at the Chesed Shel Emes Chapel followed by interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to the charity of one's choosing or the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba Memory of Elaine and Wilfred Kravetsky Fund. May her soul be bound up in the bonds of eternal life.
