WILLIAM EVAN FOWLER It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of William Evan Fowler of Salvador, SK, on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the age of 94. William is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 57 years, and his children Roderick (Kathy), Judith (Geoff) and bringing up the rear, me, Richard (Judy), as well as his siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was a committed father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He led a very simple life, beginning on the family farm in Saskatchewan. He worked for Federal Grain for many years before moving on to the Province of Manitoba, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed a long retirement during which he enjoyed the occasional round of golf and fast action of televised curling. Sunday after Church was devoted to barbecuing steak for his family. Dad instilled in his children that We hurt no one, everything in moderation and on Sundays we rest. He was a very quiet man, but still waters run deep. Dad very rarely showed his emotions, but he cared very deeply for his family. In speaking with him shortly before his passing, he stated how proud he was of his children. He was also very patriotic and enjoyed Canada's role in the Olympics. Dad often reminisced about the good old days and some of the changes he had seen in his 94 years. He especially enjoyed discussing the changes in farm machinery. He was a John Deere Man, ya know - you can never take the farm boy out of the man. In my 52 years, my Dad never once raised his voice to me. As a father of three sons, I find that quite amazing. But then again - he was my Dad and I loved him. Dad requested that I take his ashes back to the homestead in Salvador where his journey started. I will fulfill his wish in the fall when the fields are full of life for another season, thereby completing his circle of life. Rest now, Pops! Love, Rick A memorial service to celebrate Dad's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
