SURJIT KAUR GREWAL Surjit Kaur Grewal, affectionately known as Biji passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Winnipeg, at the age of 83. Biji was born on February 28, 1927 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She moved to Canada in 1990 and settled in Winnipeg. Biji is preceded in death by her husband, S. Surjit Singh Grewal, her brother and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Rajbans, and husband Maninder, of Ludhiana, Punjab; Maninder and husband Gurprit, of Sacramento, California; sons, Rajpal and wife Prabhjot, of Ludhiana, Punjab; Harinder and wife Varinder, of San Antonio, Texas; Gurinder, of Winnipeg; and 11 wonderful grandchildren, Ritam, Jagtesh, Jasjeet, Amy, Jaspreet, Harkirat, Jasmeet, Harjot, Kiran, Vikram and Abhijit. Biji was surrounded by the loved ones when she went to be with the almighty God. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses and other staff of the Victoria General Hospital, who provided her with loving care during the last five weeks of her life. Funeral services will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, on Thursday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Prayer services will be performed at the Sikh Centre Gurdwara, at 500 Dovercourt off Scurfield right after the funeral.
