MARY KOST Peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Lions Personal Care Home, Mary passed away at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Mike as well as her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Dianne (Don) Bamburak and Dennis (Lauren) and grandchildren, Megan, David, Michael and Nicole. Although Mom was born in Winnipeg, the youngest child in her large family, her parents had immigrated to Canada from Italy and these Italian roots were at the core of her being. She loved cooking for family and friends and sharing a meal with us was more than a celebration of life and culture. It was an expression of her love. She was a very bright, witty, determined and capable woman who always chose to live life on her terms. Despite numerous lifelong serious health problems, mom had an incredible zest for life and was determined to live her life to the fullest. She worked hard to help support her family and to provide opportunities for her children. She was a generous, compassionate person with a unique sense of humor and was noted for her quick wit and one liners. She loved dining out, casinos, bingo and travel, especially to Italy, Hawaii and Las Vegas. Remembering her humor, determination and passion for life will provide us with lasting memories. Sincere thanks to Lions Personal Care Home for their incredible care and compassion. Special thanks to Karen, Preetha, Lydia and the wonderful 3rd floor staff and to Shelley for the casino trips. In accordance with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
