KENNETH ALLAN CARTER SR. May 24, 1924 - March 24, 2010 After a courageous battle with cancer, Ken passed away peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital with loved one's by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his son Ken Jr. (Wendi), stepson Bill (Cathy), son Robert (Colleen), daughter Patricia, his honey Lynn, grandchildren Sabrina, Dana, Bradley, Robin, Chris, sister Louise Stewart, nieces Christine and Sandra, and his little grandson Buddy. Ken was a veteran of the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War serving two years. He retired from the Manitoba rolling mill in 1989 after working an amazing 48 years and five months. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Selkirk for over 50 Years in which he enjoyed going on bus trips with the over 60 club. Over the years he would spend the winter months vacationing in Mexico. Ken loved to spend his time with family and friends fishing camping and having barbecues. His many hobbies included planting a garden, and fixing his boats and cars. Everyone that knew him would say he was a very generous man with a great sense of humour and always on the go and full of energy. Thanks to Doctor Lindenschmidt for his care and compassion in dad's last year, as well as the home care workers who watched over him in his final days. Ken will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Cholosky, Lawrence Lecoy, Ed Huck, Ed (Toby) Slater and Dave Slater. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion banquet hall on Wednesday, March 31 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Palliative Care or a charity of choice.
