KRISTOFER HENRY THOMAS OLESON
Date of Passing: Mar 24, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKRISTOFER HENRY THOMAS OLESON They say that merry-hearted boys make the best of old men and if Kris's childhood and youth were any indication, he would have made a fine old man indeed. But we will never know because he died, accidentally and far too young, on March 24, 2010, at the age of 24. Kris is survived by his parents, Tom and Laurie Oleson; his godfather, Robert Saunders; three brothers, Michael Hayden (Betty), Michael (Oleson) Smith and Kristjan Dube (Brittany); two sisters, Jennifer and Kaitlyn Oleson; his son, Jaxson Oleson and his special friend, Tegan Bettencourt. He also leaves numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as his canine companion Pepper, the world's weirdest dog. Kris was an energetic, popular young man with a deep love of life and a strongly independent mind. He was loving, gentle and generous to a fault, even after death as an organ donor in the hope that his misfortune might bring life to others. After what some more timid souls might consider a bit too much merry-heartedness, he was enthusiastically embracing the joys and sorrows of full adulthood. He was beginning a new job this week, moving to an apartment and he was devoted to his eight-month-old son. His death is a greater loss than those who did not know him can comprehend, but he will be painfully missed by those who did know him and who loved him so much. The family thanks all the staff of the SICU at Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and their care for Kris and Leslie and Michael of Transplant Manitoba for their help. We will remember Kris at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, at Neil Bardal Inc. funeral home, 3030 Notre Dame, Phone (204) 949-2200. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

I do not personally know Tom Oleson, but have read and enjoyed every article of his I have found. I have seen him twice, both times at a bus stop as I made my driving rounds for Canada Post. Once I waved at him impulsively and he waved back. Being not a father myself I can only imperfectly extend to him and his my deepest sympathy for their loss. For them to go through such a calamity is heartbreaking. May God comfort them somehow, though at such a time as this He may seem so far away. - Posted by: Jerry Hooley (Acquaintance) on: Apr 08, 2010
