VELMA BRADEN (nee JACKETT) September 6, 1923 - March 31, 2010 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Velma, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, at the Golden West Centennial Lodge. She has joined in heaven her husband Elmer Braden, parents Elva and John Jackett, brothers Bill, Clarence, Howard and Victor Jackett, brothers-in-law Joe La Porte, Frank Greene, and sister-in-law Ellice Jackett. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons Victor (Rodina) and Leslie (Roswitha); sisters, Doris La Porte, Pearl Greene and Olive Lowe; grandchildren Lesley (Brent), Michael, Jason, Clayton and A.J.; great-grandchildren Noah, MacKenzie, Jacob, Caitlyn and Jolene, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Velma was born in Aneroid, SK and moved to Portage la Prairie, MB with her family as a young child. There she met Elmer Braden and they were married on February 11, 1946. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Velma was very proud of her family. The family would like to thank all staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for the compassionate care Velma received while residing there, as well as friends and family for their support. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 3 at the Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Velma's memory to the Salvation Army, 203 - 290 Vaughn Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2N8.
