MARY SPUZAK (HOSHWA)
Born: Jan 01, 1925
Date of Passing: Apr 01, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY SPUZAK (nee HOSHWA) January 1, 1925 - April 1, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary, with her family by her side, on April 1, 2010 at the age of 85 years. Mom will be welcomed to Heaven by her husband, Nestor and daughter, Gerry, who will give her her wings and take away her pain. Left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law, Arthur Atamanchuk, daughter Sherry (Garry) Zinnick and granddaughter, Shauna, her sister-in-law, Eda Spuzak and dearest friends, Aileen Bukowski, Joan Wojciechowski and Sonja Towse. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Katryn and Wasyl Hoshwa, her husband Nestor, daughter Gerry and brother-in-law Myron Spuzak. Mom grew up in Cooks Creek and loved the area. She raised her family there and loved living so close to her daughters. Life was challenging for Mom but she always managed to keep everything in order. She grew up with many chores of gardening, kitchen duties, and farm work which served her well as an adult. Becoming a widow at an early age of 40, Mom managed her home, farm land and harvesting, tending to the cattle, pigs and chickens while working in the city, doing it all the while raising her daughters. Nothing made Mom happier than spending time with her precious granddaughter, Shauna, sharing good times which were priceless to them both. Mom was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and as a child, learned the values of hard work, generosity and charity. She also developed a passion for doing beautiful needlepoint pictures together with Gerry and Art and loved to share these treasures with all those she loved. In Mom's later years her health tried to slow her down, and for many years she defied it, still cutting her own grass, hoeing her beloved garden and watering her flowers. Mom never complained about the work, it was her passion. This last year was a struggle for Mom, but with all the love of her family and friends and a strong will, she made the best of her time here. Her granddaughter was especially special to her during this time and was always in her thoughts and prayers. We would like to thank the staff of Kin Place Personal Care Home and Dr. Kowaluk in Oakbank, along with her long time family physician, Dr. Allen Kimelman and staff at Rougeau Plaza Medical Centre for their care and compassion. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cooks Creek with Fr. Taras Kowch officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Open the door and show me your face tonight. I know it's true No one heals me like you And you hold the key Please say honestly, that you won't give up on me And I shall believe. xoxoxo love you forever Gramma VICHNAYA PAM'YAT
