ISABEL GALANTE July 19, 1932 - March 31, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, and friend at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 77 after a short battle with cancer. Isabel will be lovingly remembered by her sister Conceiçao Galante; brother Joao Galante (Lorena); nephews and nieces Carlo, Joseph, Liliana, José Manual, Carlos Alberto, Lorianne, Dennis, Paul, Roger and Kristin. Isabel was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Maria Isabel; sister Luisa; brothers José and Manual; and nephew José Adriano. She was born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Açores, Portugal, where she learned a strong work ethic doing needlework at a young age and working as a nanny. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 where she made a living working as a sewing machine operator for Tan Jay for 30 years. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering and socializing with the many friends she made at the Arms of the Cross community; and contributed her time and gifted needlework crafts to many functions. She was loved by co-workers, family and friends for her kind nature and childlike spirit. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and Dr. G. Fuzeta for their care. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Isabel's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. 586-8044
