PAT PHILLIPS (nee THOMAS) On Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the age of 75, Pat's peaceful passing at the Grace Hospital was sooner than expected. Remaining to forever cherish Pat's memory are her children, Chris, Lori, and Gord; her grandchildren, Kristin, Julianne, and Bob; sister Donna Salamacha and family; and remaining members of the Thomas family. Having celebrated her 75th birthday, Pat welcomed a reunion in heaven with her husband, Cliff; son, Rob, and brother Ken. Born March 3, 1935, and proudly raised in Winnipeg, Pat gave her time and passion to the city she loved. She contributed to community centres when her children were young, volunteered as a fundraiser for cancer, provided support to her church in various roles, and fulfilled her civic duties as a School Trustee and City Councillor. As a child of a Hong Kong Veteran, Pat honoured her father's memory through their association. She enjoyed planting a seed and watching it grow. Whether in the community or her gardens, she nurtured and provided care. She loved Grand Beach, especially sitting on the family bench at the second stairs and chatting about the old days. Pat's spirited personality will be remembered with love from all her friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road, with Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin, presiding. Pat will rest with her parents in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery. Her final request was to add a headstone acknowledging the brief life of her sister, Verna.
