WILFRED DANIEL SCHMIDT June 30, 1946 - April 6, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Wilf will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 26 years Debbie, daughters Jennifer (Paul), Jeanette (Sean), grandsons Leden, Kaden, Aaron, special nephew Raynard (Melinda), godchildren Brittany, Noah, Gavin, Kurtis, Dakota and good friends Gord and Diane. Wilf also leaves his brothers Albert and Jake, Sisters Eva, Anne, Leona, Sara and their families along with other numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Anna. Wilf was born in Altona, Manitoba but spent most of his life in Winnipeg having been in the dairy business for over 25 years. He had many interests in life including his sports, hockey, golf and bowling with the guys. He also enjoyed travelling to the states with mom and going on casino bus trips with friends. He loved to watch the Gaither gospel hour, was an avid reader and could always be found tinkering in the yard enjoying a cigar. Some of his proudest moments were spending his days off with his grandsons and watching them grow. He will be deeply missed by all and the memory of his warmth and gentleness will always be remembered by family and friends. Thanks to the paramedics, Dr. Van Dyk and the emergency staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday April 10, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Diabetes Association or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • Fondest memory is a gathering at your home. Not sure how old I was but I remember Kentucky Fried Chicken was served. It was so exciting and delicious! I also remember Ice Cream! Waffles and ice cream at gramma Schmidt's in Steinbach. Rest in Peace. I will always remember the smiles and the joking at "faspa" at grammas! Missing those days and wishing I didn't have to grow up. - Posted by: Myra (Niece) on: May 20, 2015
