MARIE-LOUISE CLEMENCE CARRIERE (nee LANSARD) It is with deep sorrow that the family of Marie-Louise Carrière announces her passing on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the age of 77, after a brief battle with cancer. Marie-Louise was predeceased by her parents Claudius and Jeannette, her sister Thérèse and brother Claude. She will be dearly missed and always loved by her husband Donat, daughter Denise (Gerald) and son Ron (Brenda). Her memory will be cherished by her granddaughters Chantal, Lacey, Jasmin and grandsons Brett, Chris and Paul. She is survived by her sisters Rose, Helen, Leonie and Irene, her brother Raymond, her sisters and brothers-in-law as well as her many nieces, nephews and cousins who will hold her memory dear. Marie-Louise was raised in Ste. Geneviève, MB, where as the eldest of eight children, she helped her parents on the farm, caring for her siblings and working in the fields. She went to work in Iles-des-Chênes where she met Donat, fell in love and married on June 25, 1955. Marie-Louise was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and enjoyed cooking for a crowd. She loved tending her big garden and making preserves and pickles for us all to enjoy. Her career included teaching and coordinating catechism classes in Pinawa and in St. Bernadette Parish, Winnipeg. In addition, she worked tirelessly alongside Don to build a successful business - Carriere Fire Safety. Mom was able to fulfill one of her life's dreams when she accompanied her parents to France and Belgium where they were born. She was proud of her European heritage. With her French and English dictionaries at hand, she enjoyed helping out with letters that needed to be translated or family stories that needed to be written. The travel bug was always nipping at her heels and whether it was a road trip anywhere in North America or just going for a ride to the Whiteshell on a Sunday afternoon, the vehicle seldom left the driveway without her in it. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and they will never forget her fantastic crepes for breakfast when they had sleepovers. We shall miss her strength, her warmth and her wisdom. She gave of herself till the end. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors on 6E in St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Dr. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements 775-2220.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mon oncle Donat, Denise, Ron and families, A life well lived is a precious gift, and I will always find comfort in remembering someone so special. I will always remember her peace, grace, laughter, kindness and her unconditional love. I know at such a time there's little we can say, but I want to let you know that you are in our thoughts and that we care about you. We pray that in time God eases your sorrow and allows her beauty to live on in your own memories and brings you peace.
