SHAWN OSTAPCHUK On April 6, 2010 we lost a magnificent and passionate drummer. Shawn lived in Meleb until 2008 when he set out on his first adventure; he moved to Winnipeg and worked as a cook for the Olive Garden. His dream was to go to school this year and become a studio engineer, his passion was music and art. Shawn fought courageously for over a year to beat cancer but sadly it was not meant to happen and with his family by his side to help him, he was finally released from his pain. Shawn was just 21 years old but had great strength and wisdom. Although you had such a short time with us you impacted many lives with your kindness and positive attitude. Shawn you are like a four leaf clover, hard to find but lucky to have. It was a privilege to know and love you; you inspired us! No more pain, you are now free to keep on playing, the heavens will be filled with your music. Shawn loved all the nurses on St. Boniface 6E, they helped him with this tremendous burden he had to carry and we know they all loved him back as they spoiled him. We cannot express in enough words how much you helped us with your kindness and love; you will forever remain in our hearts, you are like family. Alex you are the best of the best. Shawn leaves to mourn little Crook; his parents, Patricia and Albert; brothers, David and Matthew; aunts Linda Migueis, Carol LaFleur; uncle Don Lafleur; great-aunts Mary and Nettie; many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Nellie and Cecil Murphy, Sophie and David Ostapchuk; aunt Pearl Sinotte, and uncle Manuel Migueis. Pallbearers are Rob Buskens, Jason Candaele, Manuel Candaele, Danny Gendron, Lawrence LaFleur, and Randy Morissette. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Ostapchuk, David Ostapchuk, and Don LaFleur. A celebration of his life will be held on April 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fraserwood Hall, Fraserwood, MB. Viewing will be at 1:00 p.m. and cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital - specify Ward 6E or CancerCare. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
