ERIC KRIEG Peacefully at Bluewater Health on March 26, 2010 in his 72nd year. Beloved husband for fifty years of Ingrid (Luedtke) Krieg, father of Randy and Glenn, grandfather of Morgan, Mitchell, Nikki and Lauren. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Anna (Sterling), brothers Adolf, Otto, and Robert. Born near Hanover, Germany in 1938, Eric immigrated to Canada aboard the Seven Seas, arriving in Toronto in 1957. He settled in Winnipeg where he started his new life in Canada. He was a true craftsman at his chosen trade of painting and wood finishing. After a move to Vernon, BC in 1992, Eric and Ingrid relocated to Sarnia in 1996. Eric loved the outdoors, fishing, and his two cats. As a fan, Eric enjoyed many sports, especially hockey and soccer. As a player, Eric participated on several championship soccer teams, becoming known for tenacious play and a powerful shot. He and his teams won the Manitoba Championship in 1959, the National Cup in 1966 and the Senior Championship in 1969. Eric will be missed by friends and family in Manitoba, Ontario, BC, the US and Germany. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private memorial service.
