GARRY MCRAE Peacefully on April 15, 2010 Garry McRae succumbed to the destructive illness, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Born March 18, 1945 in Selkirk, Manitoba, Garry was raised on the family farm with his sister Connie, and completed school in Selkirk before continuing on to attend the University of Manitoba and earn his Agriculture Diploma. Garry worked closely with his father on the farm, while teaching Agriculture courses at the University of Manitoba. Garry met his wife Gwen in 1972 and they married shortly after. Garry carried on the family business and started his own family farm in Meadowdale that has successfully grown for 36 years. Garry will never be forgotten by his wife, Gwen, sons Curtis (Nancy and daughters, Emily and Lauryn) and Macklin (Melissa), and daughter Kathryn (Rob). Brookelyn, Kennedy and Wyatt will miss their grandfather's sense of humour, watching westerns and learning to farm from a man that smiled when it was time to farm. Besides being a conscientious farmer, Garry was very involved in the farming community and hosted many youth Hunting events through Ducks Unlimited. Garry will be hard to forget as he loved to give advice, solicited or not. He was not overly patient, but loved to help people learn and was always willing to give a hand when needed. Garry has left an impression with everyone he has met. He loved to work and felt everyone else should share that passion. Garry liked to get up at the crack of dawn and remind everyone that wasn't up with him, that they were burning daylight. Always such a strong man, Garry braved through his illness and continued to see his close friends, still looking for a debate, even if it had to be in writing. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Little Britain Community Club, 571 Little Britain Road, on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 to come and go beginning at 6:00 p.m. To Live in Hearts we leave behind, is not to die. You will never be stuck again. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
