BEVERLEY CHRISTINA LEATHERDALE Peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Portage General Hospital, Bev Leatherdale, beloved wife of John Leatherdale and dear mother of Kim, passed away at the age of 64 years. Bev was born on July 9, 1945 in Emerson, MB to Margaret and Otto Machdanz. Her childhood was spent in St. Norbert with her three brothers and two sisters. On November 25, 1967 she married John Leatherdale and gave birth to their daughter Kim the following year. They lived in Winnipeg until 1977 when they moved and made their home in Portage la Prairie. For ten years, she owned and operated Bev's Coloured String Emporium for which she received the Entrepreneur of the Year award for Manitoba. She was a recent member of the Winnipeg Wandering Wheels trailer club where she found a kindred spirit with people who loved to play (and eat!) Left to cherish her memory are: her husband John, daughter Kim, her many close friends including Frankie, Jytte, Jo and Nicole. Her sisters, Darlene and Doreen, brothers Dale and Brian and numerous nieces and nephews. Also her chosen family Dianne and Lindsay, Verna, Chris, Carolyn and Ernie. She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Margaret, brother Stan and in-laws, Vernon and Leonida Leatherdale. Friends are invited to honour Bev's memory on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the William Glesby Centre, 11 Second Street N. E., Portage la Prairie.
