JEAN MCGRATH Peacefully, on April 19, 2010 Jean passed away at the Oakview Personal Care Home at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Sandy (John Bamforth); grandchildren Keli and Steven; brother Jim (Marge); niece Barbara (Art) and nephew Bill (Mary). Mom was born in Lucknow, ON and following graduation headed to Toronto where she found work as a switchboard operator, she met Dad at the rooming house where they were staying and after a brief courtship they were married. Their family grew with the arrival of Sandy. Dad's job took them from Ontario to Calgary and finally to Winnipeg in the St. James area where they planted their roots. Mom was an avid bowler, loved her vegetable garden and her weekly lunches with her friends at Snackers. Mom enjoyed many years working at Westwood Drugs making many friends along the way. Jean loved being a Grandma and thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren frequenting garage sales, going to Snackers and sleepovers . Mom's never ending support created the tight-knit family that we still are today and will continue to honour. A heartfelt thanks to Mom's second family, the 3rd floor Staff of Oakview Place. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Following the service there will be a celebration of Jean's life at the Kirkfield Park United Church. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
