ANTHONY (TONY) LUND It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anthony (Tony) Lund, our husband, father, grandfather and friend on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Tony will be greatly missed by his loving wife and first mate , Elaine; his two daughters, Alison and Nina; and his grandchildren Rhea, Ian and Dylan. He was predeceased by his son Bruce in 1991, his sisters Joan and Anita and his parents Daisy and Bill Lund. Tony was born in 1929 in London, England, attended Ampleforth College in Yorkshire and served in the Grenadier Guards for five years. One of his many adventures brought him to Canada in 1953. After meeting Elaine at Pala Camp near Minaki, Ontario, he decided to make Canada his home. He began work in the corrections field in Winnipeg where he also attended the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba, obtaining his Master of Social Work degree. He then relocated to Regina and began a 20 year career in corrections as Director of the Regina Correctional Centre. In the late 1980s he was seconded to Ottawa by the Federal Department of Justice to work on the Nielson Report. After retiring in 1993 Tony and Elaine began construction of their dream home, Halcyon Days in Sioux Narrows, Ontario on Lake of the Woods. Tony was an outdoorsman who loved to sail, canoe, motorcycle and explore the world. His breadth of knowledge, quick wit, chivalry, kindness and sense of humour added much to the lives of his friends and family and will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life took place on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Sioux Narrows. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
