ALAN DAVID GULLIVAN February 1, 1938 - April 28, 2010 After a short battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alan Gullivan, with family by his side at his home in Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba on April 28, 2010. Alan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and predeceased by his parents Harry and Mary Gullivan, wife Margaret (Mimi) and his brothers William, Robert and Lorne (Leona). He attended Greenway, General Wolfe and Tec-Voc school and apprenticed with Canadian Comstock as a plumber. He applied his trade mainly in northern Canada, then in 1984 retired in Kelowna, BC. After the passing of his wife Marge, Alan moved back to Winnipeg to be with his daughters and grandchildren. He was an avid bowler right up to the end. He loved gardening, fishing, playing cards, travelling, casinos and going to his grandsons' basketball games. He chose to live his life helping people and gave his time volunteering with Hospice for the last nine years where he met his wife Helen. Helen and Al were like two peas in a pod since the day they met. Also, his pride and joy was his two cats, Joey and Ladi who he was very attached to. Alan is survived by his wife Helen Gullivan Macpherson Frig, daughters Lori and Sandra, grandchildren Trevor, Robbie, Kelly, and Brett. Alan will also be remembered by Carole, Karen, Joe, Jenny, Roger and Lee well as many extended family and friends. A special thanks to Anne, Ruby and Susie from Palliative care for going out of their way to ensure he was always comfortable. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with Father Stan Gacek officiating. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Eastman Health, Palliative Care division. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
