Date of Passing: Apr 25, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET WILKIE MCCREA Peacefully, on Sunday April 25, 2010 in her 93rd year at Toronto Grace Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Anthony Cappuccitti, her grand-children, Holly and Grant Boudreault, and their children, her three much loved great-grandsons, Sebastian, Ethan and Gavin Boudreault. Margaret was born in Donnybrook, Western Australia, on June 6, 1917 and came with her family to Brandon, Manitoba in 1920. In her youth she played many sports and was a member of the Salvation Army band. In 1940 she graduated as a nurse from Brandon Mental Hospital. In the same year she married Harold Jory McCrea with whom she enjoyed a long and very happy marriage until his death in 2005. In 1950 she and her family moved to Winnipeg where she did many things including graduating from Teachers College in 1965, teaching grade IV at Sir William Osler School, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Manitoba in 1974. She was the Noble Grand of the Ivy Rebekah Lodge #19, President of the School Masters' Wives Association and taught Sunday school at Oxford United Church. When Harold retired, they fulfilled their dream to travel to Europe and Australia. They spent many happy winters in Portugal and many happy summers at their cottage at Clear Lake. After Harold's death she moved to Toronto where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, charmed their many relatives and friends, read countless books and revelled in the company of her great-grandsons. She will be missed by many. In respect of her wishes there will be no service in Toronto. A private interment service will take place in Brandon. We wish to thank the very special people at the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre who took such good care of her for so long. We are so very thankful to all of the staff of the 6th floor of the Toronto Grace Hospital for their wonderful care of her and of us in the last three months. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the The Toronto Grace Health Centre Foundation or the Toronto Rehab Foundation.
