MORLEY CHESS It is with sadness that we announce the death of Morley Chess, age 83 of Winnipeg, Canada on Monday, April 19, 2010. Born in Winnipeg on March 31, 1927 to Joseph and Fanny Chess, Morley attended Machray School and St. John's Tech where he was active in the Gilbert Sullivan productions. Morley was predeceased by his parents and brother James (Jimmy) and sister Reva (Kaplan). Morley married Barbara (Rusoff) on November 14, 1954 in Winnipeg, where they raised a family in a strong partnership of 55 years. Morley was manufacturers agent and partner in Narvey and Chess and CW Agencies. After a brief retirement, his passion for cars led to sales positions in the automotive business and at SIR/Cabela's. An active member of Glendale Country Club, Morley served as Tennis Chairman and played regularly up to the time of his illness. Morley had a story or saying for every moment in life, and his facility with words led to record times for completing - in ink - the NY Times crossword puzzles. Morley was a true mensch who deeply loved, and was loved by, his family and many friends. His pride and joy was his family; a proud and loving Zaida, he lit up whenever he could talk about his grandchildren - his dividends . Morley is survived by wife Barbara, children Susan Chess of Toronto; Judy Chess of Berkeley and her children Erin and Jordan Anderson; Jim Chess and Karyn Glass of Winnipeg and their children Ethan and Rebecca; Laurie and Allan Burg of Toronto, and their children Hannah and Nathan; and sister-in-law Dorothy Rusoff of Toronto. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Cancer Care Manitoba and Health Sciences Center GH4 who provided Dad with exemplary medical care and compassion during his stay in the hospital. Morley was laid to rest on April 20, 2010 at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Erin Anderson, Gary Brownstone, Allan Burg, Ethan Chess, Rebecca Chess, Len Glass, and Hart Greenberg.
