Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE SHIRLEY SCHON It is with breaking hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Elaine, (age 72) at her new home in The Westhaven on April 29, 2010. She is survived by Bruno, her husband of 55 years, her daughter Valerie Hildebrand and son-in-law Andy Hildebrand as well as two siblings Richard and Archie Schanowski (of Flin Flon, MB) and their families. Elaine was an extraordinary mother with a wonderful touch, a big heart and a care for others. It is difficult to imagine our lives without her. We will miss her forever. She loved to knit for the Christmas Cheer Board, in addition to being a proficient needleworker, extraordinary chef, and she tended to the most immaculate garden on Banting Drive. Elaine was born in Watson, Saskatchewan on August 12, 1937 to Frederick Schanowski (from Poland) and Esther Bertha Brandt of Beatrice, Nebraska. The family moved to Flin Flon and then to Winnipeg where they had family homes on Polson Avenue, Portage Avenue and Banting Drive. Elaine and Bruno were married at the Pentecostal Church in Flin Flon on March 3, 1955. They moved to Winnipeg in the early 60s, where Elaine worked for Woolworth's Department Store and Hartford Drugs in Winnipeg's North End. Cremation has taken place and a private service was held. Interment was held at Chapel Lawn. In lieu of flowers, we know Elaine would appreciate a donation to the Salvation Army. Thank you from the family for all the messages of condolences, your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. A special thank you to the management and staff at The Westhaven, in particular, Linda Irwin, for their support and comfort.
