Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED PAUCH On Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Portage District General Hospital, Mildred Pauch, of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Julian (Jack) Pauch, passed away at the age of 86 years. Prayers will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Deacon Michael Strilec officiating, followed by cremation and interment at 5:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery. Mildred was born December 11, 1923, eldest daughter of Annie and Mike Podoba at Winnipeg where she was raised and received her education. In 1946 she married Jack Pauch and they farmed in the North Ridge district till Jack's death in 1981. She left the farm in 1982 and moved to Portage where she started learning to live on her own. She made new friends and enjoyed the company of her many girlfriends including her colleagues from Woolco and more recently her Herman Prior buddies. Millie was proud of her independence and worked hard to maintain a high level of activity to keep her mind and body strong. She was more than willing to share her secret for a healthy lifestyle and could often be seen walking in the park or along Crescent Lake. Millie did things for her family and practiced her policy of reuse and recycle. She gardened, sewed, mended and knitted. She was willing to learn new things and enjoyed the opportunity to do so through the Herman Prior Centre. Millie was proud of her family and especially enjoyed the relationship she had with her grandchildren. She delighted in talking about them, giving them advice and supporting their decisions. Predeceased by her parents, husband Jack and sister, Francis, she leaves to mourn her passing three sons, Brian (Winnie) of Portage, Mervin (Jonnette) of Portage and John (Shelley) of Winnipeg, one daughter Leanne of Winnipeg. Three grandchildren: Glen (Tawnia) of Sioux Lookout, Jamie in Thailand and Jay of Winnipeg, one sister Rosalie and several nieces and nephews.
