Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE JANE (ROULETTE) HOPKINS May 17, 1927 - March 12, 2010 Prayers and a Memorial Service honoring the life of Elsie Hopkins will be held on Monday, May 17, 7:00 p.m., at All Saints Anglican Church, Broadway at Osborne. Elsie was born in Crane River, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Margaret and her loving and devoted husband Allan. She is survived by her daughter Mary Scott, grandson James Scott and great-granddaughter Destaneé Scott, cousin Lucy Zabalotnuk, friends Mel and Pat Finlayson, and many other relatives and friends. Orphaned at an early age, Elsie attended the Indian Residential School in Sandy Bay, where she stayed year round. Living at the school was a good experience, and Elsie had many fond memories of her years there. Elsie and Allan were married in 1974, and they operated Al's Taxi business together. They enjoyed time at their Dominion City (hobby farm) home, and loved to travel. Elsie's faith was important to her, and she was confirmed into the Anglican Church in 1986. Her life was filled with friendships she cherished, and in her later years she spent many hours sharing her experience, strength and hope with those who were struggling to overcome their addictions. Elsie's smile, her warmth and her wonderful sense of humour, will be missed. She has blessed many lives. Elsie's last few years were lived at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. We and Elsie so appreciated the thoughtfulness, love and dignity with which she was cared for by Leoni, Tatianna, and all the staff. Elsie had requested that there be no flowers, but if friends so desire, contributions in her memory could be made to The Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3A 1P6; Rossbrook House Foundation, 658 Ross Ave. Winnipeg, R3A0M1 or to a charity of one's choice.
