ANN STEFANSON (nee CHOMOKOVSKI) March 20, 1924 May 1, 2010 At the age of 86, Ann Stefanson passed away peacefully on May 1, 2010. Raised in the Roseburg District near Arborg, Ann was the fourth oldest of nine children for Ukrainian pioneers Ksenia and Maxim Chomokovski. She was predeceased by her husband Thor in 2002, her son Randall in April 2009 and brothers John, Steve, Peter, Paul and Martin. Anne is survived by her grandchildren Randi-Lisa and Adam Stefanson (mother Maureen), sisters Olive, Rose Marie (Carl); brother Walter (Olga) and many nieces and nephews. A dedicated teacher throughout her life, Ann taught school throughout Manitoba. She earned a B.Ed. from Bemidji State and from 1974 until her retirement in 1987 she worked as a special education teacher at Shriner's Hospital in Winnipeg. After her retirement, Ann and Thor, became snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona. They retired to Kelowna in 2000. There she enjoyed the fresh fruit from her own orchard. Last October, Ann returned to Winnipeg to be closer to extended family. One month later, she had a stroke and was admitted to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg where she died. A celebration of Ann's life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, 301 River Rd. in Arborg. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements
