TONY MARTIN GRETCHEN (MART) February 20, 1918 - May 7, 2010 Mart was born in Gunton, MB and raised in Stonewall, MB. He served in the R.C.A.F. and the R.C.N.V.R. during the Second World War (1939 to 1945). Mart married in 1947 and is survived by his wife Gladys and his sons, Darryl (Cheryl) and Gavin (Traudy). His grandchildren are Luke Gretchen, Julie Gretchen Bailey (Shawn) and Dane Gretchen. He also cherished his great-granddaughter Cailin Bailey. The family moved to Lafayette, CA in 1961 where Mart worked in engineering for the Berkeley Pump Company. He was known as a careful, exacting and thorough worker. In 1983, Mart retired and he and Gladys moved to Victoria, BC. Mart was an athlete who was knowledgeable in all sports and followed his sons' and grandchildrens' athletic endeavours with enthusiasm. His family and friends have many loving memories. Mart was charming and humorous. His stories will be remembered with fondness and smiles. By request, there will be no service.
