CESKA (WALTER) After a brief illness, it is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather Vladimir J Ceska, at the age 86 years, went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2010. Walter is lovingly remembered by his wife Josephine, their children Hana (Pete) Mulder, and Mark, grandchildren: Shannon (Jim) Munson, David, Nikola and Kiera, great-granddaughter Brooklyn Rose, as well as nephew Tomas Ceska and family in Czech Republic. Walter was born in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, July 17, 1923. He left the country in March 1948, first to Germany, then Italy under the care of the United Nations. After employment by the Canadian Ambassador in Rome Walter immigrated to Canada in 1949. Walter worked in the textile industry in Montreal, Midland and Ajax, ON. Later he moved to Steinbach and in 1957 moved to Toronto, newly employed by Reimer Express Lines. In 1959 Walter moved his family to Montreal to establish a terminal there, and where the family spent many happy years. In 1975 he was transferred to Winnipeg where he retired after 28 years. He then spent 14 years in his last career in Commercial Real Estate. Walter and Josephine attended faithfully at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010, Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A special thank you is extended to the entire staff of Riverview Health Centre 3E for their excellent care and compassion given to Walter and his family.
