ANDREA MONIQUE (MCCAFFREY) SOUSA September 24, 1974 January 3, 2010 It is with great sorrow that we announce the death by car accident of our daughter. Andrea leaves to grieve her daughter Mykyla, son Graham and stepson Tyler, as well as foster children Bessie, Sharon, Steven and Bryce who will miss her happy presence and daily encouragement. She also leaves her parents Val and Lawrie McCaffrey, sister Allyson and niece Arielle and grandparents Roy and Florence McCaffrey and Abe and Rolli Wiebe. Aunts and uncles: Holly Kolevris, Floyd and Karen Wiebe, Judy Anaka and Richard Destine and Val Blago Hristovski. In July 2009 she was predeceased by her husband Ernie Sousa, and earlier by grandma Sadie Wiebe and cousin T.J. Wiebe. After graduating from Miles Mac Collegiate, she worked as a hairdresser before moving to Pitt Meadows, BC where she worked in the insurance industry and entered several entrepreneurial projects. Together with her husband, she opened a pet store Scales Tails in Maple Ridge and eventually the only restaurant Gofa Koffeh in Sointula. Andrea opened her heart and home to several foster children in the past 10 years while co-ordinating many projects, businesses and volunteer work. She was a volunteer fire fighter on Malcolm Island. Her kids would be the first to say that their Mom was kind, understanding and forgiving and she always took time to listen to their problems. Andrea's goal was to raise her kids in a non-threatening, safe environment where they could grow up in her words like I did at Sunset Bay. She found that environment in Sointula where she enjoyed the mountains, ocean, nature walks, whale watching and small town life and thought that she had found Utopia. She will have an everlasting positive effect on her kids and will live on through them. Andrea was a generous, adventurous free spirit with a kind heart and whose personality was larger than life. Her presence was instantly noted by a swish of her long blonde hair, the sparkle in her blue eyes and her ever present giggle. Heaven definitely has one more angel. A memorial service was held on January 9 in Sointula. Due to overwhelming circumstances, the family has cancelled a planned memorial in Winnipeg. The family will be emailing a copy of the eulogy to our email list and would be happy to share it with others upon request. We thank those who have contributed to the children's trust fund (allyson95@shaw.ca), and for all your cards, flowers and prayers during this very difficult time.
