HELEN MARTENS (nee UNRAU) 1917 - 2010 Helen Martens, born at Altona, Manitoba on December 9, 1917 and passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Friday, May 28, 2010 in the early evening. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a Godly example to everyone who knew her. She married George Martens on July 20, 1941 who predeceased her in 2002. She is survived by four children: Harvey Martens of Vancouver, BC, Beverley Fehr of Winnipeg, Ron (Mary) Martens of Memphis, Tennessee, and Elaine (Michael) Filkins of Murrayville, Georgia, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at the East Kildonan Baptist Church, 700 Watt St., Winnipeg, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 Rev. Paul Clerc officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment at the Winkler Cemetery will be officiated by Rev. Richard Quiring at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Kildonan Baptist Church Missions Fund.
