CARL OSCAR LINDQUIST 1922 - 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Carl on Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 88 years. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Axel and Nannie, and sisters Anna (Lackey) and Ruth (Jim). Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 57 years, Kristine; children, Brent (Carol), Larry (Shelley), Marilynne; grandsons Dan, Chris and Lars; brother Axel (Doreen); brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. Carl was born in Fort William, ON on May 7, 1922. His familiar refraine was remember the day, the seventh of May . He spent his early years in Ontario. His family eventually settled in Sprague, MB in 1933 where he met Kris. They were married in 1952. Carl was employed by the CNR for 38 years, initially as a carpenter, eventually rising to general supervisor-maintenance, bridges and structures for the Prairie Region. He was an industrious and dedicated employee. His early career was interrupted by the Second World War. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and was trained as a wireless operator. He served his country with the 12th CDN Armored Regiment in conflicts throughout Europe, ending his campaign in Italy. Following his retirement in 1979, Carl and Kristine returned to live in Sprague. Together they extensively renovated his childhood home and, for many years, enjoyed the tranquility of rural life. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and constructed several pieces of furniture that still adorn their home. Carl will be remembered as a kind and loving man with an optimist spirit. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family wishes to thank Drs. Van Horne and Griggs and the staff on T5 at Deer Lodge for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
