ALICE MILLER (nee STREIB) With sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Miller, age 86, on May 29, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital. She is lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Maureen; sons, Randy and partner Bev, Terry and wife Judy, Ron and wife Joanne; grandchildren, Jennifer (Keith), Christal (Andrew), Kimberley Finnen (Jim), Danny; great-granddaughter Jordan Finnen; brother Ron and wife Shirley. She was predeceased by her husband William, brother Edwin, sisters Lydia and Trudy, parents Caroline and Phillip. Alice was born July 3, 1923 in Winnipeg. She married Bill in 1948 and they raised their children in Elmwood. Alice was a remarkable sewer, designing and making her children's clothes as they were growing up. She was dedicated to family, holding memorable Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving dinners at home and the lake. She loved spending her summers at the family cottage and never tired talking about her time there. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and romance novels. Well-known for her generosity of spirit, Alice was always willing to help someone in need. She will also be remembered for her strong will, her love of children, and her joy in telling stories. Alice worked at Eaton's Catalogue for many years until it closed, then went into catering until she retired. She was a life-long member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and in her later years, took an active part in the seniors group. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Misericordia Place for their outstanding and loving care of Alice while she resided there. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund or Memorial Fund, or the Misericordia Place Recreation Fund, 44 Furby St. NEIL BARDAL INC.
