Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHASHIKANT CHIMANLAL BANKER Shashikant Chimanlal Banker, at the age of 85 of Surat, India passed away on June 15, 2010 in Winnipeg, Canada. Shashikant Banker was born in Surat, India to Chimanlal Prabhudas and Hasmenben Chimanlal Kania on May 15, 1925. He went to school in Bardoli and Mumbai, India. He married Kshama Master on February 20, 1952 of Surat. He graduated from City and Gill's in London, England, U.K. with an electrician certification. He worked as an electrician with the Canadian National Railways (C.N.R.) for 18 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the British Army and Navy for five years. He was an active member of the Hindu Society and Gujarati Samaj of Manitoba. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for the duration of his employ with C.N.R. Shashikant Banker was predeceased by his brother, Arun in 1984 and his sister, Kumud in 1998. Shashikant is survived by his wife, Kshama/Kokila, of over 58 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Jitendra Shah; his son, Kashyap and his youngest daughter and son-in-law, Sangita and Mark Kristjanson. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Usha Mehta, Bharti and her husband, Arun Parekh. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren, Jai and his wife, Purvi; Palak, Tejal, Jinesh, Jodi and Spencer. He will be missed by his caring in-laws, Pankaj and Asha Master; and Dhruv and Minaxi Master. Shashi / Sudhirbhai loved all forms of music, laughing, being with his family and friends, and helping those in need. He touched the lives of many people with his trademark smile and generosity, and had a great sense of humour all the days of his life. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Shantipath to follow at the lower level from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hindu Temple, 999 St. Anne's Rd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family of Shashikant Banker wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. B. Shah, Dr. M. Jain, nurses and all staff at the Tuxedo Villa Extendicare Personal Care Home, who took such good care of him in these last few years.
