ROBERT JAMES REID April 15, 1917 June 17, 2010 Robert James Reid, aged 93 years, passed peacefully from this world into the loving arms of his Saviour. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Catherine; son Bruce; daughters, Merle (Stan), Dorothy (Bob); grandchildren, Darren, Bryan, Kelly (Jason); and great-grandson Lucas. Robert was predeceased by his parents, William and Jessie; brother Bill (Mary Grace); sister Nettie (Joe); daughter Ann; and granddaughter Jennifer. Dad was born on the family farm, Sunny Brae, named after the family farm in Scotland. He was a lifelong mixed farmer and lived on the farm for over 90 years till he moved to Salem Home. Dad attended school at McNabb, Myrtle and Gordon Bell for music and shops. He carried the love of music for the rest of his life. In his younger years he enjoyed hardball and curling. Dad taught Sunday School for many years at Myrtle. Dad also served on many business and community boards in the area. Dad loved spending time with his family and friends, going to church and going for drives in the country which often included ice cream. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Salem Home, Winkler, they truly do make it a home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman with Shirley McLaren officiating. Flowers gratefully declined.
