MAGDALENE ESTHER RUPPEL April 12, 1920 - June 12, 2010 Mag passed away peacefully, at Park Manor Personal Care Home, due to complications from a bad respiratory infection. She will be missed by her children, Dan, Terry, Bruce, Randy, Anna Lynn and their families; and her siblings, Adolf, Luther, Hilda, Sally, Nelda and their families. Many other extended family and friends too numerous to mention will also miss her. Mag was predeceased by her husband Gus in 2005; and her father John; mother Thusnelda; brothers, Ted and John; and sisters, Gertrude and Louise. Mag was born in Duval, Saskatchewan and her younger years were spent in various rural parishes served by her father who was a Lutheran Pastor. When she left home, she came to work in Winnipeg as a housekeeper. She met Gus (he spied her) at a Lutheran youth meeting and eventually got married in Winnipeg where they spent the rest of their married life. Mag never worked outside her home and was committed to her role as a wife and mother. She worked tirelessly cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting, gardening, canning and everything else the job description threw at her. She did this not only for her own children, but also numerous foster children entrusted to her care over the years. Mag's faith was strong and carried her through many hardships. She was active at Redeemer Lutheran and later at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Transcona. Many thanks to the staff at Park Manor, who were always gentle in their care for Mag. She always commented on how much she liked it there, and how the staff even gave her hugs. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 21 at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 11:30 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Please make any donations in lieu of flowers to Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda Street, Winnipeg, MB R2C 1L7. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949 - 2200 nbardal.mb.ca
