ALINE RITA KENNEDY (nee PROULX) (GOUGH) 1930 - 2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Aline Kennedy, on June 14, 2010 at St. Pierre, MB, at the age of 79. After a long and valiant struggle with bone cancer, Mom passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Chapman (Ken) of St. Pierre, MB; David Gough (Shelly Gough); Derek Gough (Kelli) of London, ON; Diane Thompson (Ric) of Waterloo, ON; John Kennedy (Luisa) of Smithers, BC; and Doug Kennedy of Toronto, ON. Aline was Memère to 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Richer, MB on October 6, 1930. She married our father V.O. Gough in 1951 and spent many years as a military wife moving from Rivers, MB to Kentville, NS to Whitehorse, Yukon and finally settling in London, ON. She began her working career as a switchboard operator at 3.M. in 1961. She worked as a supervisor at the Employment Office where she earned many promotions. She married North Kennedy in 1973. They built their cottage at Cape Croker on the Bruce Peninsula where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After North's passing in 1988, Mom decided to retire in 1989. She found a new role in her life as caregiver to her youngest grandchildren. Evan and Emily, Adrien and Andrew brought much happiness and purpose to Mom's life. Mom missed the Prairies and moved back to Manitoba in 1997. She had a close bond with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be missed by her dear friends the kids George and Lorelei Park and Annie. It was also a delight for Mom to reconnect with an old friend from London, Marlene Bigelow. We want to thank everyone who visited Mom during her illness. It meant the world to her. She loved you all so much. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shenouda and Dr. Magally and to the Angel Alley nurses and all other hospital staff who took such good care of our Mom during her three month stay in St. Pierre Hospital. It was Mom's adamant wish not to have a memorial service. She has been cremated and she will be taken to Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, ON to be interred with her husband, North. If friends desire, donations may be made in memory of Aline Kennedy to Palliative Care at DeSalaberry District Health Centre, Box 320, St. Pierre-Jolys, MB R0A 1V0. Whenever we smell Chantilly or the aroma of a turkey roasting in the oven, or watch the sun setting over the lake, we will be thinking of you, Mom. If I can stop one heart from breaking I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching or cool one pain or help one fainting Robin unto his nest again I shall not live in vain. We love you always Mom, always and forever. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
