ZELLA KRYWA It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Zella Krywa on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at her residence at the age of 83 years. Left to remember her great sense of humour, her fantastic cooking, and total devotion to her family are her children, Mervin (Judy), Sherry Telfer (Jim), Karin Lower (Michael); loving grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon, Steven (Kirsten), Shaun (Tracy), Shea (Rob), Adam and Erin (Phil); great-grandchildren Tyler, Travis, Kenzi, Dylan and Grant, as well as two special people in Mom's life Don and Roberta Telfer. Born in Russell, Manitoba on July 12, 1926, Mom was the middle child of William and Teenie Rubeniuk. Along with her brothers, Peter and Terras, and sisters Helen and Eva the family moved to Shortdale, Manitoba where she grew up. They worked hard but Mom would tell you they certainly enjoyed their play time too. Mom married the love of her life, Steve Krywa, on August 22, 1943. As a couple they were very entrepreneurial and operated a number of businesses starting with a dairy farm in Sherridon, Manitoba where their first child, Mervin was born. They moved back to Grandview to own a restaurant, farm and subsequently Nu-West Construction building roads throughout the Prairie Provinces. Through that time Sherry and Karin were born. We were a busy family. Sadly Dad (Steve) suddenly passed away in 1967. Mom missed him terribly but got on with life as she did after every major challenge. Over the last 43 years since Dad's passing she has taught us great intuition, a strong determination, an inner strength and a real sense of independence. She took her responsibilities very seriously. A Graveside Service will take place in Grandview, Manitoba on Mom's birthday, Monday, July 12 in the Grandview Memorial Cemetery with a time for fellowship to commence immediately after. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Maegan and the staff at Kildonan House; your support truly made a difference during Mom's brief illness.
