DR. ROYDEN ALFRED LEONARD DAVIS It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, aged 84, on June 30, 2010 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Royden will be lovingly remembered by his five children: Sara, Christopher (Gail), Jonathan (Maggie), Rowan (Gary), and Michael (Bonnie); his sister, Vivienne; his four grandchildren: Alexandra (Greg), Ben (Chrystal), Nick, and Jack; and two great-grandchildren: Ella and Roxy. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Angela. Royden was born in London, England in 1926 where he was raised and educated. He met Angela while in medical training at King's College Hospital. They were married in 1950 and moved to Canada shortly after, where he served as a Medical Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force for four years. Following tours in British Columbia and Ontario, the family, now including Sara and Christopher returned to the United Kingdom where Roy obtained his specialty in dermatology. Shortly after the birth of their third child, Jonathan, Roy moved his family to set up a dermatology practice in Regina, SK, where Rowan and Michael were later born. A subsequent move brought Roy and his family to Winnipeg where he spent his career practicing dermatology at the Manitoba Clinic. He was also a past president of the Canadian Dermatological Society. In addition to practicing medicine, Royden enjoyed photography, sailing, travelling, map collecting and studying languages - he was a Spanish interpreter for diving at the 1967 Pan-Am Games held in Winnipeg. We would like to thank the staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the loving care of our father during his illness. Best of luck, Pops! Love you. Miss you. Hope you are enjoying a Noilly Prat or Manhattan somewhere. The family will be having a private ceremony as Royden requested. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.
