Josie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother Kara, father Jonathan and big sister Ellie Ring. Josie also leaves behind her loving grandparents Gord and Colleen Taylor, Larry and Pamela Ring, aunties and uncles Christy and Jay Cooke, Jana Taylor, Matthew and Ilona Ring, Marshall and Heather Ring and Jaret and Candice Ring. Josie will be missed as well by her cousins Veronika, Daniela, Linnea, Gabriela, Juliet and Lucy Ring. Josie was baptized on June 6 and was lucky to have Jaret and Candice as her Godparents. Josie was born on May 31, 2010. Unfortunately, Josie was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 0. Although Josie spent only a short time with us on earth, the impact her life had on those who knew her was profound. Our beautiful little girl changed many lives forever. We would like to thank Kristin of Ronald McDonald House and the staff at Children's Hospital NICU. Josie had some special nurses who took very good care of her Val, Carrie, Kim and special thanks to Michelle. We would also like to thank Dr. Harlos and Simone for their care. We have so many special family, friends and co-workers who went over and above with their gestures of support, and we can't thank you enough. The things that people did for us so we could spend more time with Josie made all the difference. Josie you leave the world a better place because of the hearts you touched and the lessons you taught. Josie you have taken a piece of your Mother, Father and Sister with you but we will be better people because of you. An angel wrote in the book of life Josie's date of birth. She whispered as she closed the book Too beautiful for earth . In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House Winnipeg or Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Canada A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday, July 9 at 4:00 p.m. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

I would also like to add that I was sad to see that someone put marker on your bench... it was a heart and a peace sign, so I'm sure the young person had kind intentions, but it seemed that they defaced a beautiful monument to your daughter... This spring and summer I plan to bring flowers, or maybe stuffed animals for your angel. - Posted by: Karen Wesa () on: Mar 28, 2017

Today as I walked through Assiniboine Forest I saw this bench with the beautiful inscription and it brought me to tears, so I had to look for her story. I am so sorry for your loss, but very touched. I saw a mom and baby deer today too, and truly felt like I was walking with angels. God bless your family. - Posted by: Karen Wesa () on: Mar 28, 2017

Hi Roy and Baillie, I am not sure if you will ever see this but thanks. I was looking up an obituary today and decided to look at my daughters. When she passed away, I do not think the comments section was available, so I was not expecting to see anything. Your comments surprised me and reminded me how in Josie’s short life she was able to touch everyone she met. It is good to know she is still doing that. My friends donated this bench to our family and I am forever thankful. We place flowers there every year on her birthday and I visit it frequently. We also spread some of her ashes in the pond and Josie's brother was baptized there last year. It is a special place for us. Thank you for sharing how Josie has continued to touch lives of everyone she encounters, I have always felt that was her gift and you have just reinforced that. Amy, thank you for all your support over the last four years. Josie we miss you and love you. Josie's Dad - Posted by: Jonathan Ring (Josie's Dad) (Father) on: Aug 14, 2014

As your birthday comes to and I imagine you as a 4 year old my heart sinks a little and a smile comes to me. I know you are as beautiful as I remember you, as sweet as I saw you last, and a huge part of my heart as you always will be. I miss you and love you! Balloons are on their way soon with many messages of love and peace for you. Xoxoxoxoxox Auntie Amy - Posted by: Amy Taillieu (Family) on: May 28, 2014

For the past few years, when I've saught a little solace during a busy day or in sad moments, my dog and I have walked through the forest to Josie's bench in front of the water. I always marvel at the flowers by the bench and the jug attached to keep them watered. I know the inscription by heart and find myself repeating it at times just to hear it out loud. I don't know the Ring family but I want them to understand that the love they will always feel for Josie is felt even by a stranger sitting on 'her' bench, and the comfort it brings me is enormous. May the family be at peace knowing their angel is always with them... Baillie Burke - Posted by: Baillie Burke (Don't know the family) on: Oct 16, 2013

I went for a bike ride today and saw a name on a park bench. I don't remember names very well, even when I'm introduced to folks, but for some reason, I remembered the name that was on the bench. This is quite amazing. I googled the name and was introduced to an angel. Thank you and I hope you are all doing well. Roy. - Posted by: Roy Heinrichs () on: Jul 29, 2013
